Tools around a release

Release Rollout and DistroKid: how they fit together

DistroKid distributes music and offers promotional and payment tools. Rollout helps a team coordinate the materials and work around a release.

A music release needs distribution, promotion and coordination. DistroKid and Release Rollout can play different parts in that work. Understanding their roles helps a team decide where each piece of release information belongs.

What DistroKid does

DistroKid delivers music to services including Spotify, Apple Music and TikTok. It also offers tools beyond distribution. See DistroKid’s official product overview for its current service offering.

HyperFollow provides a page for a release, including pre-save and music links. Splits helps divide earnings among collaborators. Those capabilities matter when comparing products; DistroKid does more than send audio files to stores.

Where Rollout helps

Rollout is a shared release-campaign workspace. Its release sheets bring together dates, track information, artwork, asset links, press, contacts and campaign checklists. A linked Todoist project adds a task view and supported actions using each person’s own Todoist connection.

This is useful when people repeatedly ask for the latest artwork, the agreed press date or the next campaign step. Keeping those details together gives the team a working reference alongside its distribution and promotion tools.

An example workflow

  1. Prepare and deliver the release through the distributor your team chooses.
  2. Record the release facts and campaign milestones in Rollout.
  3. Add relevant asset or promotional URLs to the sheet so teammates can find them.
  4. Maintain the campaign checklist or work through tasks in the linked Todoist project.

Adding a DistroKid or HyperFollow URL to a release sheet is a reference link. Rollout has no native DistroKid integration, distribution delivery or automatic synchronization with HyperFollow. It does not replace DistroKid’s royalty and payment tools.

Choose around the job you need done

For distribution, review the distributor’s current terms and capabilities. For a shared record of the campaign’s materials and work, explore Rollout’s release-sheet guide. Rollout is invite-only and public signup remains closed.
